My Journey: From Education to Empowering Others Through Financial Advice

After completing my Bachelor of Commerce (Special) degree at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, I followed my passion for teaching and began my career as an Accounting teacher at my alma mater, Holy Family Convent in Colombo 04. Teaching was more than just a job for me—it was an opportunity to inspire young minds and share my love for numbers. This fulfilling journey led me to other esteemed institutions, including ILMA International, Leeds International, and finally, St Bridget’s Convent in Colombo 07. At each stop, I built strong relationships with my students and colleagues and developed a reputation for clarity in instruction and a commitment to nurturing academic growth.

Though teaching has always been close to my heart, life sometimes takes unexpected turns. Five years ago, I embarked on a new venture by establishing and successfully managing a dairy shop in Lincoln, New Zealand. This shift brought me valuable business experience, where I learned to navigate the intricacies of running a small business—from customer service to operations management. However, despite my success in the business world, the desire to continue learning and growing never faded.

With that drive for self-improvement, I took a leap into a new field, becoming a qualified financial advisor. I now specialise in Life and Health Insurance, where my teaching background plays a crucial role in helping clients understand their options. The world of insurance can often feel complex and overwhelming, but I am passionate about simplifying it for my clients—especially fellow Sri Lankan women, many of whom face unique challenges when it comes to securing the right financial protection for themselves and their families.

My approach to financial advising is built on a foundation of trust, dedication, and a genuine desire to see my clients succeed. I believe in offering a personalised service that goes beyond transactions. It’s about listening, understanding each individual's specific needs, and then providing tailored solutions that give peace of mind.
